On 1 February 2012, over 6,000 knives were destroyed as Sackers Recycling in Great Blakenham that had been handed in to Suffolk’s Bin a Blade amnesty.

The year-long amnesty was launched in December 2010 by teenage anti-knife campaigner Holly Watson, BBC Suffolk’s Mark Murphy and Suffolk Constabulary’s Chief Constable Simon Ash.

All three were on hand to see the knives destroyed and taken off Suffolk’s streets for good.
